義大利男高音帕華洛帝在2007年因癌癥以七十二歲過世前，是二十世紀后五十年間唯一天王級的歌唱家。他的知名度和地位，在歷史上只有二十世紀初的卡羅素可以相提并論，聽過他聲音的人數，也只有卡羅素可以等量齊觀。帕華洛帝的歌唱生涯可以說是老天爺賞飯吃，不像與他并稱三大男高音的卡列拉斯或多明哥，在演藝之路上，多少都吃過苦頭，不如意過。
帕華洛帝憑著天賦的優美嗓音和辨識度極高的音色，竄紅之路始終不費吹灰之力。生平擁有「高音C之王」和「三大男高音」多項稱號。后者是因為他在1990年發起了世界盃足球賽在義大利決賽演唱會，召集卡列拉斯和多明哥兩人同臺高歌「無人能睡」，因而讓其他兩人得以沾他的光一起躍上全世界的焦點。而事實上，這整個三大男高音的場面和氣勢其實根本就是為帕華洛帝打造的，就連「無人能睡」一曲，其實也一直是帕華洛帝的招牌。帕華洛帝不僅擁有歌喉，也有一種天生討人喜歡的人氣。即使他后來噸位驚人，也還是擁有旁人難及的親和度。
這六張CD收錄了101首帕華洛帝知名的詠嘆調、藝術歌曲、民歌和跨界歌曲、圣誕歌曲等經典演唱。由於帕華洛帝出道是由澳洲女高音蘇莎蘭提拔，蘇莎蘭和夫婿波寧長久以來都是笛卡的獨家藝人，因此帕華洛帝也很自然地就一直是笛卡的獨家藝人，從未跳巢其他唱片公司。也因此他畢生所有的演唱錄音幾乎都在笛卡，也只有笛卡才有實力推出101首帕華洛帝的演唱合輯，因此絕對值得珍藏！
